Orion’s Hidden Fiery Ribbon
Viewing at sub-millimeter wavelengths, the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) in Chile revealed this new image of cosmic dust grains in the Orion Molecular Cloud complex (The bright region at the upper right is the Orion Nebula - M42)
The dust grains normally block light, but with these wavelengths they shine (Orange in this image) due to them being a few degrees above absolute zero. Cooler objects give off radiation at longer wavelengths (like red stars) and hotter objects give off shorter wavelengths (blue stars).

Hill Valley throughout the years.

Today the sun was shining, it was about 17 degrees and I spent all day revising differential equations topless.

That’s a phrase I never thought I would say…

Guess who just got a visa to work in Canada?

Guess who’s moving to Toronto?

Guess who’s internet is being an arse?

Big Dipper and Magic Telescope

Stars of the constellation Ursa Major (the Big bear) form the familiar dipper-like asterism in the northern sky as photographed from the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory on the Canary island of La Palma.
The starry night sky is reflected from one of a pair of 17 meter diameter, multi-mirrored MAGIC telescopes. The MAGIC (Major Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cherenkov) telescope is intended to observe gamma rays indirectly by detecting brief flashes of optical light, called -Cherenkov light. — Babak Tafreshi
